When did it suddenly become cool to hate everything? It's a growing problem, especially in the entertainment world, and no one benefits from an increasingly hard to please, pessimistic audience.

I made this poster for an Ubuntu Poster competition, which I luckily won. Yey! <start commercial mode> if you like it, get some here [link] <end commercial mode>
I made it beacause I kind of like Ubuntu... the worm colours and the philosophy of it all... The poster artwork was released with GPL licence and a version is also available with Creative Commons public licence. refer to ubuntuforums [link] if you want to know where to find the sources. |

open source is the better alternative, right ?!
right!

kiwi anyone ?
It's not better if you look at what the os is capable of, it's not better for hardware support, and it's not better for a lot of other things...
but it's a question of thinking fordward, OSS is increasingly becoming the only alternative for people who value freedom. We all know what they have been doing with Vista, and to be earnest, although Apple has certainly a much better attitude in this regard, it's not really breaking new freedom ground either. OSS is the alternative if you don't want all the crap on your computer, if you don't want to be spied all the time, if you're sick and tired with people crippling the content you paid for with drm...
And lately I've got this feeling that really interesting new stuff often comes out of the open source field.
Apart from linux having some really nice apps I miss a lot on other plattforms.

my comment wasn`t elaborated in its content.
i am not a friend of monopoly in case of economic positions.
the idea of open source is great, because users identify them selfs with the product and also don`t get criminated by using free software, instead of downloading and sharing copyrighted software.
..keep in mind, that a lot of ppl today are able becauase of their intelligence to realize what they have in mind by using computers..like making tv, art, music etc..hardware is expensive, but to effort high end software..
this kind of autonomy is pretty much needed and appreciated. different people have different ideas and if they share their knowledge, they reach higher level and better results. vigilantness is a good indicator for making existing things better by optimizing them and all are happy, because they all
accomplish pieces of the puzzle.

anyway... I understood what you mean, I just wanted to add something to it.
Right now my aim is to get a somehow working ubuntu graphics workstation... let's see how far I can get... unfortunately there is some good tools on linux, but most of them are kind of not ready for production or lagging far behind their proprietary counterparts... but on the other hand... I'd like to see how far I can get by just using free software!
